The Art of Anticlastic Raising

Immerse yourself in Olivia's workshops

Olivia opens the doors of her workshop to share her experience gained in recent years on the Anticlastic technique applied to jewelry, in an exceptional natural environment.

Let your hands flow.

The course focuses primarily on the process of "anticlastic forming," where fluid and dynamic surfaces are achieved by stretching the peripheral areas of a metal surface. Despite the relatively high strength of metal, its ductility and special properties guide the creative process leading to a unique vocabulary of form.

During the workshop, students will be directed through a series of exercises designed to acquire the basic and necessary knowledge of the technique, which will serve to enrich themselves and gain experience with the aim of being able to apply them later in their personal projects.

Materials are included in the price. We will use brass and copper plates for the exercises. Students can bring their own precious metals if they wish (we recommend bringing the sheet metal to speed up the exercises).

Each student will be given a hammer and two stakes so that they can continue practicing after the workshop.

Transforming a single sheet of metal into an undulating organic form using only a hammer and stake is the art of anticlastic raising.
